Microsoft Surface 2 is the next-generation version of Microsoft's original Surface tablet which was released in 2012. The latest Surface 2 was announced in September 2013 and builds on the features offered in its predecessor. The device is powered by Windows RT 8.1 which offers improved customization options and faster multitasking capability. The new operating system also provides a much efficient search feature. A number of apps come pre-loaded with the software including, but not limited to Microsoft Office 2013 RT, Outlook 2013 RT, Xbox Music, Video and SkyDrive cloud storage. -----

The device features a 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD multitouch widescreen display having a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080p. It is ideal for streaming HD movies and playing games/apps with heavy graphics. Processor acceleration is provided by its built-in NVIDIA Tegra 4 Quad-core chipset that has a clockrate of 1.7GHz. A hefty 2GB RAM is also part of the chip. 

Microsoft Surface 2 is equipped with a 5MP rear camera that allows Full HD 1080p video recording. In addition to that, a 3.5MP front cam is also available for video calls. There are two mics on the device that cancel unnecessary environment noise while stereo speakers stream rich sound for plain audio as well as music. A full sized USB 3.0 connection is also built on the tablet to allow easy device connectivity and faster transfer speeds. 

Other important features of the tablet are - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, micro SDXC card reader, video output, stereo jack, Internet Explorer 11, games, one year free Skype landline calls for the first year, 200GB free SkyDrive storage on cloud, low-light camera capture, a range of compatible accessories and a battery with up to 10 hours of video playback time and over two weeks of standby.
