Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 L IS USM Lenses

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM lens takes wide zoom range telephoto zoom lenses to the next level combining high optical performance with a compact, sturdy design for superb versatility and easy portability.

Key features

  • 70-300mm focal range
  • L-type zoom lens
  • f/4 to f/5.6 maximum aperture range
  • Four-stop Image Stabilizer for blur-free shots
  • 8-blade circular aperture
  • Robust build with superb handling
  • Close focusing distance of 1.2m throughout the zoom range
  • Ring-type USM with high-speed CPU for silent, fast AF
  • All lens elements constructed from environmentally friendly lead free glass

High image quality is achieved by the use of two ultra-low dispersion lens elements and a floating lens group to produce high detail images with well-suppressed chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range. The 8-blade circular aperture ensures that out of focus areas exhibit very pleasing bokeh and circular out of focus highlights. This contributes to the high quality of the images produced by the lens.

The lens features a ring-type USM autofocus motor combined with a high-speed Central Processing Unit (CPU) and an optimised AF algorithm to make autofocusing both fast and silent. Because the lens has a ring-type USM, Full-time manual focus is possible allowing you to adjust the focus manually without first having to switch to manual focus.

A minimum focus distance of 1.2m throughout the zoom range allows you to get in close to subjects such as butterflies and flowers to really concentrate the viewer’s attention on the subject.

To improve the handling of the lens the zoom ring is located towards the front of the lens body, while the focus ring is located closer to the camera. The grip on each of the two rings is different so it is easy to tell both by position and feel, which ring adjusts focus and which adjusts zoom. When carrying the lens around or when storing it, the lock switch can be used to stop the lens inadvertently zooming due to gravity. This helps to keep the lens compact when not in use.

A lens with high image quality and a compact, travel friendly size opens a world of shooting opportunities. With a zoom range from 70-300mm, you can change the framing immediately without having to change your position. Use it to capture candid portraits, pick out details in a landscape, or zoom in on timid wildlife.
